Toronto Spring Festival 2026: Lunar New Year Fireworks at City Hall
The Toronto Spring Festival takes over Nathan Phillips Square on February 14-15, 2026 with a spectacular celebration of the Lunar New Year. This year marks the Year of the Fire Horse, which comes around only once every 60 years.
What to Expect
Running from noon to 11 PM both days, the free festival features:
- Fireworks display over Nathan Phillips Square
- Lion and dragon dances by traditional performance troupes
- Live cultural performances including music, dance, and martial arts
- Immersive experiences and interactive workshops
- Food vendors with traditional Lunar New Year treats
The Fire Horse Significance
2026 is the Year of the Fire Horse in the Chinese zodiac, a combination that occurs only once every 60 years. The Fire Horse is associated with energy, passion, and dramatic change. Expect extra-vibrant celebrations and larger-than-usual crowds.
Chinatown Street Festival
The following weekend (February 21-22), the celebration continues with the Downtown Chinatown Lunar New Year Street Festival on Spadina Avenue between College and Sullivan Street. This free two-day festival features lion and dragon dances, cooking demonstrations, fortune-telling, and cultural booths organized by the Downtown Chinatown BIA.
